Shot 51 on the back nine of the local muni this morning.
Driving was OK (hit 57% of fairways). However, didn’t hit any greens in regulation, and didn’t get any up and downs.
Which seems odd, because I was hitting irons solid, and chipping/pitching felt good. Just wasn’t getting close enough to the targets…
Need to practice 100 yards [...]

Had a good range session today. Was hitting the ball solid, and decided to try 5 Wood and 3 Wood. I haven’t used these clubs in several months, but have been thinking about a backup club for those days when my driver isn’t cooperating. I was hitting all my driver shots high and right during [...]

Today at the practice green, worked on chip shots from various lies.
With the ball sitting on the fringe or fairway, I put the ball back in my stance and swing square to the target line, keeping the handle forward through impact. I get great distance control and the ball is on line every time.
This works [...]

Worked on putting today at the practice green.
I’ve been spending a lot of time on the “20-in-a-row” drill, trying to sink 20 5-footers in a row (level lie), and starting over if the putt doesn’ t drop. This drill has been great for grooving a good stroke, but doesn’t do much for putt speed or [...]

Hit the range today.
First practiced solid contact with the 9 to 3 drill, using the pitching wedge. Then worked up to 6 iron, with solid contact all the way. At first was pushing slightly right of target, but then gradually started hitting 5 to 10 yard draws.
Simulated playing 4 holes, hitting fairly well expect for [...]

In my most recent round, was having trouble making solid contact on chips, pitches and short irons.
So worked on that on the range today. Hit some irons that seemed okay, then started playing a practice round from the range mat. However, was making such poor contact that I had to stop and mentally re-group.
Put on [...]

Today I shot 108 on the local 18 hole par 72. Quite disappointing, as based on practice sessions and recent 9 hole scores, was expecting to be much lower. Here’s the breakdown:
Fairways Hit: 10 out of 13
Greens in Regulation: zero
Up and Downs: 2 out of 18
Putts: 41
My driver and long irons (5 and 6) did [...]

Just a short reminder to myself on the importance of swing tempo.
Was hitting irons straight right in my last practice session. Basically my tempo and timing did not allow me to square the clubface at impact.
Today, slowed down my swing, allowing me to:
1) Get hips open before impact
2) Maintain lag and make a divot in [...]
